Defects

Mold

Molds are microscopic fungi. They need moisture, food and correct temperature conditions that allow them to grow. Flooding and plumbing leaks are common causes of sudden mold infestations.  Molds are found everywhere and when there are active colonies growing inside homes, remedial action should be taken. People who are in regular contact with mold, especially children and the elderly persons living in a contaminated home, can sometimes suffer serious and continuing adverse effects. Those with weakened immune systems or who suffer from asthma are also at an increased risk.  Mold growth can sometimes be linked to construction defects, especially those defects that cause water leakage into the home. Professional assessment is needed if a structure is suspected of contamination.
